A Day of Determination, Development and Standout Performances Across All Age Groups

It was another action-packed weekend for Baltic Youth FC, with every age group showcasing effort, resilience, and clear development on the pitch. From thrilling last-minute winners to tough learning experiences, the day reflected exactly what grassroots football is all about growth, teamwork, and passion.

U8 – Written by Coach Ashley

A fantastic turnout set the tone for the U8s, with the squad showing great commitment and energy across both fixtures. In their league match against Berg, the team demonstrated real determination, battling hard from start to finish. Despite constantly chasing the game, the boys never gave up and their persistence paid off in dramatic fashion with a last-minute goal to secure a brilliant 5–4 victory. ⚽👏

The second game, a friendly with a much-changed line up, proved more challenging. Facing a tougher test, the team fell to a 5–1 defeat, but the result only tells part of the story. The focus was on development, ensuring all players gained valuable match time and experience in different positions.

Encouragingly, the progress within the squad is becoming more noticeable week by week. A special mention goes to Matej, who earned Player of the Match for his excellent running, sharp movement, and confident shooting. ⚽👏 His performance highlighted the growing confidence within the team as they continue to improve together.

U9 – Written by Coaches Warren & Aran

The U9s delivered one of the most exciting games of the day with a thrilling 2–1 victory in a competitive, end-to-end contest. Both teams created chances throughout, making it a real spectacle for everyone watching.

The boys showed excellent composure and teamwork, managing the game well under pressure and staying focused right until the final whistle. Their hard work and discipline were rewarded with a well-earned win.

👏 Player of the Match: Kejhan – an outstanding performance that stood out across the pitch.⭐ Special mentions also go to Misha, who put in a solid and reliable shift in defence, and Riley, whose crucial saves in goal kept the team firmly in the game at key moments.

Overall, it was a performance full of energy, determination, and teamwork something the coaches were incredibly proud of. Well done to all the boys for a top display. ⚽

U10 – Written by Coaches Justin & Brendan

It was a tough outing for the U10s, who faced a strong opponent on a narrow AstroTurf pitch, resulting in a 6–0 loss. While the score line was challenging, the game provided valuable lessons for the team as they continue their development.

The conditions made it difficult to play their usual game, but the players continued to show effort and commitment throughout. There were positive moments, alongside tougher periods, all of which contribute to the learning process at this stage of the season.

👏 Player of the Match: Tait – recognised for his effort and attitude during a difficult game.⭐ Captain’s Pick: Lucca – acknowledged for his contribution and leadership on the pitch.

The coaches highlighted the importance of staying focused, learning from each match, and continuing to improve. With only a handful of games remaining this season, the message is clear keep working hard and keep progressing. The team will regroup and go again next week with determination.

U16 – Written by Coach Craig

The U16s delivered a strong and exciting performance, supported brilliantly by parents on the side lines. It was a game full of intensity, effort, and quality football, with the team showing clear improvements particularly in their fitness levels, which have been a key focus in training.

From the start, the players demonstrated resilience and determination, battling for every ball and maintaining high energy levels throughout the match. Their work rate paid off, and they were unfortunate not to be several goals ahead in the first half.

A number of individual performances stood out on the day. Jack made an excellent impression in his first game, delivering a composed and solid display in the centre of the pitch. At the back, Bobby produced a series of fantastic saves to keep the team competitive, showing great awareness and confidence in goal.

Going forward, Justin was clinical, scoring two excellent goals following intelligent build-up play highlighting the team’s growing ability to work the ball effectively in attacking areas.

The overall performance reflected the team’s continued progress, with every player contributing to a strong collective effort. Special thanks were also given to Nick for running the line, as well as to all the parents for their ongoing support.
